Over the last few months, God has laid it on our hearts that the Jordan family (at least Christine, Jim and Zoe) go and minister to the people of Zambia, Africa this summer! Christine has desired to serve in Africa since she was in high school; I have wanted to get involved with Moffat and Doreen Zimba’s work at Northrise University in Zambia since he first came to visit East Parkway Church back around 2003; and Zoe is ready to serve God anywhere!
In case you were not aware, Zambia is a landlocked country in south central Africa, about the size of Texas. Of the 12 million people living in Zambia, 87% of them live on less than $2 a day. Half the population is unemployed, and there is a severe lack of quality education in the country. Northrise University is a private, Christian University, committed to “Empowering the People of Zambia, One Student at a Time.” When a student graduates from Northrise University, he or she is equipped to join the workforce, start their own business, or move into a ministry role, providing for the needs of the community.
This summer, we will be participating in Impact Ndola 2011 July 1-9, 2011 where we will serve alongside the students of Northrise University to bless Ndola, the second largest city in Zambia. During the nine-day trip, Christine will be working on the Kitchen or Women’s Ministry team. Zoe, along with Natasha Yaholkovsky, plan to work with the Children’s Ministry Team, sharing the love of Jesus Christ with some of the local community schools Northrise partner’s with. They will be working directly with children each day, many of whom are orphans, playing games, teaching Bible lessons, providing food and truly loving them! I hope to be a part of the Pastor’s Conference helping to strengthen pastors all across Zambia and other parts of Africa.
We are writing to ask you to partner with us and Northrise University to impact the lives of an entire town during Impact Ndola 2011. We need you to be a part of our support team! Most importantly, we would like to ask for your prayers as we prepare for this trip, and our time in Zambia. Please pray that God will be glorified through our work there, and the entire team’s service. Pray that true transformation will occur in the lives of people, and change comes to Zambia.
We would also like to ask that you consider partnering with us financially to help support our trip–especially Zoe’s. The total cost for us to participate is $3,800 each, and we need to raise that money by May 15. Because we know that God has called us to go to Zambia, we are confident that He will also provide a way for us to go financially. “But my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
If you are able to join us and support our trip to Zambia, please send your tax‐deductible gift in the enclosed envelope and be sure to indicate our name(s) in a separate note. Alternatively, you can give online by going to
www.northrise.org, indicating our names as well. Northrise University Initiative is a federally recognized 501(c)(3), tax‐exempt charity. All donations made to NUI are fully tax‐deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
Thank you in advance for your prayers and support. We look forward to sharing stories and photos with all of you during our trip, and after I get home! I am even hoping to be able to write a daily blog so you can follow along as God works in Zambia. This will be the address:
